What is Socialism?

Albert Einstein once wrote, "Is it advisable for one who is not an expert on economic and social issues to express views on the subject of socialism? I believe for a number of reasons that it is."

Einstein didn't believe that economics could be understood completely by scientific methods because of the complexity of human interactions involved. "Socialism is directed toward a social-ethical end". Science is not about ends, it can only supply means to attains certain ends. So "we should not assume that experts are the only ones who have a right to express themselves on questions affecting the organization of society".



There is a bit of confusion about this because there are very different flavors of socialism and ideas about how it can be brought about, see Socialism Wiki page.

sorry had to do that. I am a programmer after all. I'm starting a blog because I have ideas that I've been thinking would be good to put out there if only to get it all off my chest. So please bear with, me I'm not used to writing. Most of this is just stuff that I'm interested in. Here are some of my areas of interest. Oh, and did I tell you that I'm a little disjointed and awkward. Any way here it is:

• gaming (video games, single player mostly)
  
• government policy
• media
• science (physics, cosmology, biology, etc)
• technology, as in.... Wow that's a cool new phone, tv, internet appliance, etc
• (I'll find something lighter to throw in)
